| Site Description: WHY is located within the Northern BC background seismic zone, 8 km from Whitehorse (Population 13,000). The station is approximately 100 km to the east of the Denali-Shakwak and contiguous Fairweather-Yakutat seismic zones. Within these two zones, there were 57 seismic events in 1993, 38 of which had ML>/= 3. About 300 km to the east of WHY is the MacKenzie Mountains seismic zone where there were 13 seismic events in 1993. | |
