FDSN Network Information

FDSN code ZV (2021-2021) Network name Insights into the subsurface architecture of the Monahans Dune Field with active & passive source seismology and microgravity (Seismic Study of the Monahans Dune Field)
Start year 2021 Operated by
  • Baylor University, United States of America
End year 2021 Deployment region -
Description

We will investigate the depth of the Blackwater Draw Formation of eastern New Mexico and west Texas. The formation was deposited between 1.8 million and 300,000 years ago (early to middle Pleistocene). We will perform both active and passive seismic techniques and collect coincident gravity data for joint modeling. This activity will be part of a geophysics course taught at Baylor but will be open to graduate and advanced undergraduate participants with the permission of the PI.
