FDSN Network Information

FDSN code Y2 (2012-2012) Network name Green County Observation (GreenCounty)
Start year 2012 Operated by
  • University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), United States of America
End year 2012 Deployment region -
Description

This experiment will monitor induced seismic activity following an active hydrofracturing operation. We have permission to place a recording seismograph in a secure location for several years. I propose to borrow an IRIS-PASSCAL (a single instrument, data recording and solar panel) and using research funds, immediately purchase our own system that will be installed upon delivery. By monitoring locally (directly above) the stimulated region, seismic events too small to be recorded by our seismic station PE/UPAO will be observed.
