FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XI (2007-2010) Network name Collision of the Burma Arc accretionary prism and foldbelt with the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta in Bangladesh (Bangladesh)
Start year 2007 Operated by
  • Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, Columbia University (LDEO), United States of America
End year 2010 Deployment region
Description

Deployment of mobile local array in the foldbelt of the Burma Arc in Bangladesh. Here the sediments of the Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta are being subducted beneath the Burma Arc creating a broad accretionary prism. We will use local seismicity to illuminate the structure of the accretionary prim and teleseismic receiver functions to examine crustal structure
