FDSN Network Information

FDSN code SW Network name Solomon Islands Seismology & Volcanology Network (Solomon SeisNetwork)
Start year 2018 Operated by
  • Solomon Islands Geoscience Observatory (Seismology Unit), Solomon Islands
End year - Deployment region Solomon Islands
Description

The Solomon Islands Seismological Network is a Volcanic Seismic monitoring system to monitor the volcano and seismic hazards in Solomon Islands and strengthen its early warning system for volcano eruption, seismic and tsunami hazards.
The network is also in line with the Oceanic Regional Seismic Network
(ORSNET) concept to build a standard regional network across Pacific
Island countries to share real time volcano and seismic data and
disseminate tsunami warnings.
The network system consisted of seven stations in the easter Solomons
and another seven station in the western Solomons totaling up to
fourteen stations providing adequate monitoring coverage of the
country's volcano and seismic hazards.
The system consisted of Kinemetric Quanterra Q330S+ digitizer Nanometric
Trillium 120QA. Datas from the all station sites will be transmitted to
Honiara base station on real-time bases using VSAT-Satellite system.
