| Description |
This network comprises 20 Guralp 6TD sensors, recording for 4 weeks in the Kenyan savanna. The network is centered around a water dam where much wildlife congregates. It is arranged in two small triangles (10m), a diamond arrangement around the dam (150m aperture), and roughly two transects about 6km north (towards a river) and 6km Northwest. Additionally, there are 8 "shumbas" (bespoke vector microphones) around the dam, and 30 cameratraps around the dam and close to some of the other seismic stations. The aim is to record wildlife (primarily elephants), to decipher their ground-based signals and possible communication. |
