Dear FDSN Steering Committee,

As you may know, at the 2019 meeting of the FDSN steering committee in Montreal, the terms of reference of the FDSN were updated to define three membership categories, two of which support the FDSN financially. You can review the updated terms of reference at https://www.fdsn.org/terms/. The FDSN executive committee has set up a bank account for the FDSN and will start collecting membership dues in 2025.

The activities and developments of the FDSN that are supported by the collection of dues include:

* Travel grants to promote participation at meetings & workshops
* Sponsorship of regional metadata workshops

The executive committee asks that you please take some time now to discuss within your member organization to determine your level of support:

* “supporting” (US$5,000/year, 6 votes on financial matters),
* “contributing” (US$1,000/year, 2 votes on financial matters), or
* “participating” (no financial contribution, 1 vote on financial matters).

Please respond to this email, indicating your level of support, by December 31, 2024.

Sincerely, on behalf of the FDSN Executive Committee,

Nick Ackerley
