Coordinates: Latitude: 50.5190 Longitude: -123.0760
Elevation to Sensor: 400.
Depth to Sensor: 0.

Geology: PMB is located in a mixed terrane of metavolcanic and granitic rocks in the Coast Belt of the Cordillera.

Vault Conditions: Reinforced concrete instrument pier rock-bolted to surface exposure of bedrock; insulated
fibreglass side walls and lid; no backfilling.

Site Description: PMB is located in the Coast Mountains seismic zone (approximately 100 seismic events in 1993)
which encloses the Northern Vancouver Island seismic zone (approximately 70 events in 1993). Approximately 150 km
to the west is the very active Juan de Fuca-Explorer zone, characterised by a series of spreading centres and by
seismicity associated with transform faults.

STATION INSTRUMENTATION
1. Canadian National Seismograph Network - [ CN ] Dates of Operation: 05 June 1993 to present

 Seismometer Type: Guralp CMG-3ESP
Digital Format: SEED (IRIS); SEED, GSEV2.X, MK2, CA (CNSDC)

Event Detection: Continuous data are archived onto 12" SONY optical disk platters; the CNSN 4-band frequency domain
event detector creates a list of "refined detections" for further post-processing, including automatic locations.

Channel Data: All three components sampled at 15,000 samples/sec; data decimated to 40 samples/sec using 3 cascaded
low-pass FIR filters with a final -3dB point at 18.3 Hz and -140dB at > 20 Hz. Channel
