Geology: DRLN is located within a series of deformed and metamorphosed volcanic and sedimentary rocks.
Vault Conditions: Concrete pier poured directly onto bedrock; surrounded by an insulated building completely covered by overburden. Unheated instrument room.
Site Description: Located in the Eastern Background seismic zone, DRLN is approximately 450 km from the Laurentian Slope seismic zone and about 400 km from the eastern edge of the Lower St Lawrence zone. In 1993 there were seven seismic events (2 < ML < 3) in the Laurentian Slope zone. There is no significant natural seismicity within 400 km of DRLN.
