FDSN Network Information

FDSN code XV (1999-2000) Network name Seismic Profile Across Kilauea Volcano's East Rift Zone (Kilauea Rift)
Start year 1999 Operated by
End year 2000 Deployment region
Description

We are investigating the rift-flank system of Kilauea Volcano, Hawaii, using data from 29 short-period seismometers deployed across Kilauea,s East Rift Zone (ERZ) and South Flank. Our data, augmented by data from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, targets the deep part of the ERZ. In this study we use P-wave arrival times from local earthquakes to construct a 3D tomographic model of the velocity structure across the upper ERZ.
