Description |
MSN currently consists of eight broadband stations distributed over the Maltese islands, covering an area approximately 300 sq.km. Further stations are planned. Sensors are mostly Trillium (120PA or Compact) , one STS-2 and one Geotiny (Geobit). All stations transmit data (HH) in real time to UM, where it is permanently archived. The aim of the MSN is to monitor and evaluate seismicity and microseismicity around the islands, carry out seismotectonic studies, seismic hazard, crustal structure, seismic site response and ambient noise studies. |
