| Description |
Seismic network of the Lower Saxony Earthquake Service. We operate the seismic network of Lower Saxony for regional earthquake analysis. The detection capability of the existing networks in Germany (e.g. GR, KQ) shall be improved for Lower Saxony by lowering the inter station distances. Natural seismic activity is low. Nevertheless low magnitude events have been observed. Currently six broadband seismometers are planned with corner periods of 60 s. In addition, we operate a network of short period stations in cooperation with BGR in the gas production region. This network complements the regional earthquake monitoring in the centre of Lower Saxony. It ensures an independent monitoring of induced seismic events by our state authority. |
