In a first-of-its-kind study, a small seismic network was installed near Fairbanks, AK to explore the application of ambient seismic noise methods for monitoring and mapping active layer thickness and permafrost characteristics. Seven Trillium compact posthole broadband seismometers were direct buried at the top of permafrost (~1 m depth) and recorded continuously from September 2013 through June 2015. The stations received power over Ethernet from a nearby building and experienced numerous power outages during the deployment leading to some gaps in the dataset.
